With a wealth of experience in the commercial property sector, David is Managing Partner of Chayton Capital LLP. He is supporting the Charity to raise awareness and make contacts with leading organisations in the commercial property marketplace.
After an academic career, for over 20 years David worked as a racing journalist, first for The Sporting Life then for the Racing Post, twice being voted Horserace Journalist of the Year. The sport offers a good opportunity to reach a relevant target audience and David, diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008, wants to use his knowledge of racing, and contacts in it, to help raise awareness of the disease, and funds.
The Charity is keen to extend its influence within healthcare professional networks and Robbie is helping to focus on this. His background has been as a senior executive with leading commercial healthcare organisations. Most recently he was Managing Director of Clinovia Limited with a turnover of £180 million that was acquired by the BUPA Group. Previously Robbie was MD for Government Contracts at Nestor Healthcare Group plc and before that he held a variety of positions within BUPA.
Well-known and respected as a publicist for many high-profile celebrities, Max was previously diagnosed with and treated for prostate cancer. He supports The Prostate Cancer Charity with its broad awareness raising work and attends a number of its supporter events.
Steve is joint founder of Ivey Cox Consulting. Based in Jersey, the business assists clients to raise capital. Previously, he was Director of Fund Management at Collins Stewart Fund Managers, and Head of International Sales at J O Hambro Capital. Steve is also developing a reputation for talent management within the music sector.
Grant is Head of Media Practice at Spencer Stuart. Previously he was CEO of Publicis' UK operation and spent over 25 years working in the advertising industry. Grant served as a Trustee for The Prostate Cancer Charity for an extended period and has made a major contribution to the Charity's growth and development.
As one of Britain's best-loved DJs, 'Foxy' currently hosts the Breakfast Show on Magic 105.4FM. He lost his father to prostate cancer and has been a strong public supporter of The Prostate Cancer Charity's work by attending events and by giving the Charity regular plugs on air.
Raising awareness of prostate cancer within the Armed Forces is important to the Charity. As a previous Director for RAF Strike Command, Peter has helped introduce the Charity into military networks. Previously Peter was Chairman of abcMedia and his other roles included Chief Executive of BUPA.
Currently a non-executive director of Eddie Stobart, Michael has held senior positions for over 30 years in a number of blue-chip companies, including Laporte plc, Doncasters Group and Lloyd's Register. An inveterate trekker and charity fundraiser, Michael has completed the 24 Peaks Challenge four times and he has also trekked across the Himalayas. In total he has raised over £500,000 for a variety of charities. Having recently lost his brother-in-law to prostate cancer, Michael is now helping to support the Charity by extending its reach into male-based businesses and by helping to strengthen our challenge events programme.
Awarded his OBE for services to the motor industry, Ken is Managing Director of Honda UK. The business has become the car supplier to The Tour of Britain which is the UK's leading professional cycle race that has very close ties with The Charity. In 2010 up to 50 Honda UK employees from Head Office and its dealerships will take part in The Prostate Cancer Charity's Tour Rides.
Victoria Lambert has been a journalist for more than 20 years, and specialises in health and medical matters. She currently writes for the Telegraph, the Times, the Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Mail and the Mail on Sunday. She contributes to Saga, Geographical (where she wrote a column on ethical shopping for two years) and First Eleven magazines, where she is the new agony aunt. Her previous positions include Health Editor at the Daily Mail, Health Editor of the Telegraph in London, and Foreign Editor of the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, Australia.
Previously Managing Director of Saatchi & Saatchi, Ron helped the agency to become the UK's leading advertising agency by revenue. Ron then moved on to found agencies Leagas Delaney and Leagas Shafron Davis, both of which achieved Top 30 status from a standing start. Now Ron is an Executive Director of The Success Group, coaching clients to overcome a variety of short-term and long-term business challenges.
As a man who is living with prostate cancer, Kevin has become an Ambassador of the Charity to raise awareness in his local Yorkshire community. He and his wife, Sue, make a fantastic double act when it comes to fundraising. Each year they host a gala dinner that raises close to £20,000 for the Charity. Kevin is a director of a leading energy engineering business.
As MD of Sharp UK, Paul has engaged employees in Sharp to fundraise for the Charity. Paul has more than played his part in this. For example he took part in Race Across America as part of his efforts to raise up to £100,000 to support the Charity. Paul is a very keen cyclist and is helping the Charity to further its links in this community.
Often referred to as "the voice of cycling", Hugh is one of Britain's greatest professional cyclists. He provides an expert opinion on many of today's leading cycling events, including The Tour of Britain 2009 that was featured each night on ITV4. Hugh has been working tirelessly to promote The Prostate Cancer Tour Rides that take place each September.
As a respected actor and theatre director, Barrie is helping to raise awareness and funds via the theatrical and artistic communities. His Northern Broadsides theatre company is based in Yorkshire and has produced a number of critically acclaimed productions, including Othello that came to London and starred Lenny Henry. Barrie hosted a unique night in a London theatre in which he read poems and spoke openly of his own experience of being affected by the disease.
As Ambassador for Sport Development, Iain is helping to develop the Charity's programme of sports partnerships. Most recently Iain has helped the Charity to become the headline sponsor of what has become known as The Prostate Cancer Charity Marketing Industry Triathlon. Iain is a very experienced and highly respected marketing professional and he is also Chairman of The Lightning Car Company.
A former England cricket player and one of the enduring legends of the game, Gladstone came to the UK from Barbados at the age of 14. His cricketing talent was soon spotted and he played a significant part in helping to retain the Ashes in 1986-7. The Australian Boxing Day crowd were stunned as he took 4 for 48 and left the Australians with a first innings total of 141. Gladstone has become an Ambassador for the Charity to help raise awareness of the disease, including in the African-Caribbean community that has a three times higher risk of getting prostate cancer.
Claire has worked with the Charity since 2008, and has a special attachment to the cause as her father died of prostate cancer in 2009. Claire runs her own company, i to i research, which evaluates the effectiveness of communication. As a keen skier and sailor she is passionate about fitness and health.
As Managing Director of the Punch Pub Company, Mike has significant influence and contacts within the pub and pub restaurants marketplace. Before his current role, Mike worked for Whitbread, Forte and David Lloyd Leisure. Mike is a keen cyclist and took part in The Prostate Cancer Charity's 2009 Stoke Tour Ride as well as helping the Charity to raise awareness of prostate cancer in the pub sector.
