What it's like working in the team
"I joined the Charity at the start of 2010 in the Community Fundraising team and it has been a very enjoyable year. There is a really positive atmosphere around the office and I was made to feel welcome straight away. It is great to be able to meet our supporters and their families at our events which take place across the country. Speaking to people who put so much effort into raising funds for our work is uplifting and motivates me to do the best job possible." - Chris Carter, Community Fundraising Executive
This is the largest and most diverse of our directorates. It is made up of the following teams:
These teams are responsible for providing a range of services for people affected by prostate cancer, as well as ensuring that our messages and information are communicated as broadly and effectively as possible.
"I joined the Charity in 2009 as a Policy Officer for the Policy and Campaigns team. My role has allowed me to develop further my existing skills, which are in research, but also learn new areas such as campaigning. The working culture is brilliant, everyone is friendly and supportive of each other. It is great to be part of an organisation where the vision to support people affected by prostate cancer is at the heart of work carried out by each member of staff." - Sheba Qureshi, Policy Officer (Research and Evaluation)
This team is responsible for ensuring that our staff can perform their roles as effectively and efficiently as possible in a pleasant and safe environment. The team is divided into the following areas:
"I began working for the Charity as a temporary member of staff in 2007 and snapped up the permanent position as soon as it was available. My colleagues across the Charity are fun, friendly and always approachable but at the same time professional and passionate about the cause. With an IT background and some accountancy training, I joined as a database and finance assistant. The Charity has been highly supportive of my studies and has really challenged me to put into practice what I've learnt. I am now a Finance Officer and take lead in certain projects, which shows the Charity's trust and commitment in developing their staff. It being a worthy cause, the support and, mostly, the people is what drove my decision to stay for so many years and I see myself here for many more." - Sachin Modi, Finance Officer
Headed by our CEO, this small team includes:
"I am Executive Assistant to Owen Sharp, our CEO. Amongst other things, my role involves managing Owen's diary and looking after various committees, including the Board of Trustees. I also act as the main point of contact for the Charity's 14 Trustees and produce a monthly newsletter for our Trustees and Ambassadors. Over the three years I have worked here, I have found it to be a very friendly, open and supportive environment to work in." - Zhaleh Cartam, Executive Assistant
Our newly formed Communications directorate includes the following teams:
I joined the Charity at the end of 2010, as part of the Marketing Communications team. Within days it was impossible not to be inspired by the dedication, warmth and passion of the staff and supporters of the Charity. The Charity is a vibrant, fun place to work and everyone is friendly and approachable. It's been brilliant to be a part of some of our biggest campaigns such as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the production of our Charity newsletter, Vital. I've also recently joined the Charity's social committee, organising staff events throughout the year, which is great to be involved in. Ultimately it's immensely rewarding to see how our efforts can help people affected by prostate cancer.
