Let's celebrate!
Tired of always getting the same present every year? Got lots of unwanted gifts and vouchers sitting in a drawer? If so why not celebrate your special occasion by asking your guests to donate to The Prostate Cancer Charity instead of giving gifts!
Last year The Prostate Cancer Charity raised over £26,000 through donations in lieu of gifts and this year we are hoping to raise over £35,000. If you would like to use your special occasion as an opportunity to help those affected by prostate cancer there are a number of ways you can do this:
Raise money online
Set up a Justgiving page and get guests to donate on line, to do this click on the link below and follow the instructions:
Once you are happy with your page e-mail your page link to your friends, family, work colleagues, here and abroad, and ask them to pass it on to all their contacts you will be amazed how generous people are. Also you can now track your progress on facebook by using justgiving’s facebook application: apps.facebook.com/justgiving or even add a widget to your blog website or social profile.

Past Celebrations:
Martin's 60th Birthday Party
On 25 December 2005 I celebrated my 60th birthday. I decided to invite forty of my friends and family for a meal at my local Italian restaurant, Villa Bianca, in Hampstead, London.
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000 and decided I would like to support The Prostate Cancer Charity in a practical way by becoming a networker. On my 60th I didn’t want my friends to buy me presents (after all at 60 who needs another tie!) so I asked them to make donations to The Prostate Cancer Charity instead.
They donated over £1,000. I’m sure people were more generous than they would have been had they bought presents and, as a result, the charity benefited from their generosity.
Anna and Mike's Wedding
On 14th July 2007 Anna and Mike Cotton got married; instead of having a traditional wedding list they decided to ask guests to donate to The Prostate Cancer Charity in memory of Anna’s father Tim.

The Langford's Silver Wedding Anniversary
Previous fundraisers Julian and Karen Langford celebrated their Silver wedding anniversary on the 6th June 2006 and requested that their guests made donations to The Prostate Cancer Charity rather than give gifts. They made a total of £635 and remarked:
“We are very pleased with this amount and hope it will be more useful to The Prostate Cancer Charity than a lot of silver or crystal glasses would be to us!”.
