Upcoming events:

Four men and a boat

On 19th April 2009 Matt Hampel, Billy Gammon, Tom Wigram and Pete Staples set off on their bid to become the first 4 man crew to row the Indian Ocean. They are competing in the inaugural Indian Ocean Rowing Race from Geraldton (Western Australia) to Mauritius approx 3,568 miles (5,742 kms)

It has been really tough both physically and mentally for the team as they have battled with the weather and suffered personal bereavements. There were a few anxious moments when the boat recently lost contact but we are pleased to say that they have been spotted and are due to finish their epic race on the 8th July.

  • The crew will row in 2 hour shifts, with 2 crew on the oars at all times.
  • They have to be totally self sufficient with no assistance from the outside world.
  • The boat is 29ft long, 6.3 ft wide and weighs approximately 800-900kgs (empty).
  • Each crew member will consume between 8,000-10,000 calories per day

Cycle Challenge

Daniel Fuller and Ryan EdwardsDaniel Fuller and Ryan Edwards will be cycling the length of Britain over two weeks starting June 3rd. Both are Canadians from the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. From John O’ Groats to Land’s End is roughly 1000 miles, far, far further than any distance cycled by them before! They’ll be roughing it, sleeping in tents along the roadside as they work their way down the length of the country. They’re attempting to raise £5000 in support of The Prostate Cancer Charity UK and will be harassing Canadian and British press trying to get as much coverage as possible before, during and after the event.

Daniel’s Uncle, John Fuller was a survivor of Prostate Cancer who just recently passed away due to an unrelated condition and the ride will be dedicated both him as a person and the wonderful things he did with his life.

Both family and friends will be cheering them on from across the Atlantic. Ryan’s parents currently reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado while Daniel’s live in a Coldbrook, a small village in the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia.

£5000 is certainly an ambitious target and to reach that goal a lot of generosity will be needed. To sponsor them visit justgiving.com/danielkfuller
