The New York Marathon - 01/11/2009
On the 1st November 2009 Peter Clayton and Mark Holloway joined our team of 14 runners to take part in the New York Marathon. Read about their experiences below:
“I ran the marathon with my friend Mark in memory of my Dad, Keith who died of prostate cancer in September 2008 and Marks Granddad who succumbed to the same illness a number of years earlier.
We have had fantastic support from family friends and work colleagues from day 1 and were both amazed how much the sponsorship helps with the motivation needed to train etc.
The NY Marathon itself was fantastic - we were cheered on by our wives and kids and a few million New Yorkers. They say the NY Marathon is like 'running the World' and it certainly felt like that especially as you pass the length of Brooklyn through all of the various communities. The welcome when you drop off the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan was overwhelming and continued for the remaining 8 miles of torture.”
Thank you so much to Peter and Mark who have so far raised an incredible £8,874 for The Prostate Cancer Charity.
