Sponsored Walk

Jeremy Hicks and familyA big thank you to Jeremy Hicks who decided to do a walk to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity after being diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. Jeremy was joined on his challenge by his sister Sarah and her husband Martin, and his two daughters Charlotte and Danielle. The team set out on Sunday 15th August for a walk around their local town of Boscastle, finishing in their local pub with a well earned roast dinner!

3 Peaks Challenge

Michael Hodgkinson and his teamA big well done to Michael Hodgkinson and his team for completing the 3 peaks challenge on 26th July in 23 hours and 29 minutes, 31 minutes ahead of schedule. They had to battle through the elements to reach the top of the 3 highest mountains in the home nations. They have currently raised £980 so a huge thank you!



On the buses

Stan and RegThank you to Stan Samek and Reg Thorne who made it all the way from High Wycombe to the Scottish borders using only local buses! They wound their way through Northampton, Chesterfield, Pontefract, Northallerton and Alnwick and numerous small villages taking 3 days to reach their destination. Stan and Reg raised the fantastic amount of £1,225 so a big well done!



AWEDIS fundraising dinner

AwedisA big thank you to everyone who attended and helped organise the AWEDIS fundraising dinner. The event was a huge success and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you also to our volunteer Richard for speaking at the event and representing the charity. The AWEDIS group are supporting the charity throughout the year and we are very grateful for their support.



The Kerem School

Kerem schoolA big thank you to the staff and students from Reception class, Year 1, 2 and 3 at The Kerem school for raising the fantastic amount of £1,865.54 for their reading week. A fantastic achievement and we are delighted with their support – well done kids!



King of Xtreme Wrestling event

King of Xtreme Wrestling eventA big thank you to Keith Everest who organised the King of Xtreme Wrestling event on the 24th April. Keith raised £75 from the event and also publicised the charity in his local area.



Newcastle to Edinburgh Cycle Ride

Chris Needham; Steve Leonard, Rick D'Avino, Mike Schlessinger, Andy Church, Karl-Heinz Haydl, Farkas Barsony, Richard de Bie and Ken ByrneChris Needham; Steve Leonard, Rick D'Avino, Mike Schlessinger, Andy Church, Karl-Heinz Haydl, Farkas Barsony, Richard de Bie and Ken Byrne cycled from Newcastle to Edinburgh in 4 days! They have so far raised over £3,000 so a great achievement a big thank you to all the team for their hard work.



Blue Boys Walk – 2010

Blue Boys WalkThank you to Gerald Sims who organised his second annual Blue Boys Walk on Sunday 30th May. 45 people walked the ten and a half mile circular route from Goytre Wharf around The Folly in Pontypool including Gerald’s four daughters and his granddaughter.

The first Blue Boys Walk raised £3,500.

The 2011 walk will take place on Sunday 29 May with the addition of a five-mile walk for children. For details call Gerald on 07522435591.


Elvis Night

Elvis NightThank you to Paul and Sarah Warren for organising an ‘Elvis’ night on Saturday 17th April 2010 at Wellington Football Club in aid of Prostate Cancer. A total of £800 was raised through ticket sales, donations and raffle. Paul and Sarah will be organising another event for 2011 due to popular demand so watch this space!



Frankfest

FrankfestThank you to Deborah Kelly for arranging Frankfest in memory of Frank Rice. The Day was fantastic, they had perfect weather and they the fantastic amount of £1,247.25. A big thank you to everyone involved.


Rave to Save

Prostate Cancer Breakfast SundayA big thank you to Cheryl Jackson who organised a prostate cancer breakfast Sunday morning 21st February, they cooked 68 full english breakfasts in a small kitchen in the village hall, and raised £490.00.
