St Cuthbert’s Way

St Cuthberts Way TeamAn adventurous group of four ladies took on the 62-mile challenge of the St Cuthbert’s Way walk in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity.

Patricia Bond, Maggie Dunlop, Margaret Smith and Sarah Harris all from Exeter travelled up to Scotland in June 2007.

They walked from the border town of Melrose in Scotland to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne lying off the Northumberland coast.

All of our walkers successfully completed the four-day trek which followed the route St Cuthbert took in the 7th Century to become Bishop of Lindisfarne.

The weather was great until the last day when they endured the most horrific thunderstorm as they crossed the causeway to Lindisfarne.

Well done and thank you ladies!

Ben Nevis Challenge

Emma Porter of Dagenham, EssexEmma Porter of Dagenham, Essex hiked up magnificent Ben Nevis in Scotland on the 14th of September to raise funds for The Prostate Cancer Charity. Emma took part in the challenge in memory of her Grandfather, William Porter.

“My grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer and it was only a very short while after the diagnosis that he died. I began to think that I should do something for The Prostate Cancer Charity and try and get information about prostate cancer out to as many men as possible.”

Emma Porter of Dagenham, EssexEmma climbed 4,406ft to the peak of Ben Nevis and back down again on one day.

“I wanted to push myself to the limits. I wanted my challenge to really be challenging, so I picked the Ben Nevis trek.”

Emma hopes to raise £200 in total. If you would like to sponsor her visit:
