Case Study: Marathon Oil

Marathon Oil U.K. Ltd nominated The Prostate Cancer Charity to benefit from a “Moustache Challenge” which they hoped would raise £10,000 for the Charity. Twenty two Marathon employees grew moustaches in the month of February and a Grand Final was held on 2nd March to award the Best Overall Moustache prize. Marathon matched all funds raised by employees, enabling them to smash their target raising £12,287.92 in total.
Paul Ness, a reservoir engineer with Marathon, who came up with the idea said: “It’s been a great team challenge, but at the same time we’ve raise awareness and over £10,000 for The Prostate Cancer Charity. We appreciate the support we’ve had from our management team, who didn’t mind us looking scruffy around the office for a very good cause.”
