Travel insurance companies/brokers

You can download this page as a PDF file.

We have compiled a list of insurance companies or brokers who offer travel insurance to people with medical conditions including cancer. The prices do vary so it is worth calling a few companies to compare prices. Insurance companies have a list of criteria to assess the possible risks of you claiming and the prices quoted are based on these.

The cost of insurance also depends on when you were diagnosed and what treatment you are currently receiving. Some companies will ask that you complete a questionnaire or provide a medical certificate, whilst others will want a letter from your consultant to verify that you are safe to travel.

If you are travelling to a European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you will need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

The EHIC has replaced the old E111 form and an application form can be obtained from the post office or you can apply online at: www.dh.gov.uk/travellers

The EHIC entitles you to reduced-cost (sometimes free) emergency medical treatment in most European countries. It does not cover ambulance services or the cost of bringing you and your family back to the UK. It is therefore recommended by the government that you also buy travel insurance as well as having an EHIC.

Please let us know if you find an insurance company particularly helpful or other wise.

The Prostate Cancer Charity does not endorse or recommend any company or broker. This list has been compiled solely to help you find a possible insurer.
