Advanced prostate cancer is cancer that has spread from the
prostate gland to other parts of the body. It is also called
'metastatic' prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer can spread to any part of the body but it most
commonly spreads to the bones and the lymph nodes (sometimes called
lymph glands).
If you are diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer you may be
offered treatment that can help to keep your cancer under control
for many months and sometimes years.
As well as looking at the options to treat your cancer, your
specialist team will ask you about any symptoms you may have and
will explain the different treatments available that may help
relieve these.
