Advertising Competition

The Prostate Cancer Charity has been entered into London's biggest creative challenge to win free advertising space on London's buses - a great way for us to increase awareness of prostate cancer and our Charity.

Bus Advertising Competition

Fantastic news, we won the Wild Card round. Thanks to everyone for voting over the past month to get us through to the Grand Prix!

The next step is that our design will be entered into the London Creative Challenge Grand Prix competing against 13 other agencies. The overall winner will be decided by 50% consumer vote and 50% judge’s vote. Online voting will open on 13th July 2009 and close on 23rd July 2009 and will be promoted via e-marketing, banners on all CBS Outdoor emails, full page advertising in Campaign and Media Week magazines and PR activity.

The judge’s vote will take place at Battersea Park on the 24th July. Each ad will be posted live on a bus and then driven past the panel for them to view and vote on. The winner of the London creative challenge will be announced at the end of the day.

Ex-England Rugby Legend Andy Ripley wins Rugby Book of the Year for Ripley’s World at the British Sports Book Awards

Andy Ripley18th March 2008 Ex-England rugby legend Andy Ripley was earlier today named the winner of the Rugby Book of the Year Award at the British Sports Book Awards in London.

His book, Ripley’s World, published October 2007 by Mainstream, is an intimate and moving account, in diary form, of his battle with prostate cancer since he was diagnosed.

All royalties from the book have been donated to The Prostate Cancer Charity, for whom Ripley continues to campaign. Despite 35,000 men each year being diagnosed with the illness, it is a subject that Ripley feels is talked about far too infrequently.

Andy Ripley was capped 24 times for the England international rugby team throughout the 1970s and was one of Willie John's invincible Lions in 1974. Now a successful businessman, he has held the world indoor rowing record for heavyweight men for 10 years. Born in 1947 and raised in Liverpool, he now lives in Surrey with his wife of 30 years and has 3 children.

NICE is recruiting new members to independent advisory committees on the use of health technologies

March 2008 - The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is recruiting new members to its independent advisory Appraisal Committee. The Appraisal Committee formulates recommendations for NICE on the use of drugs and devices in the NHS in England and Wales. The Institute is looking to recruit a range of committee members. Members of the Committee are drawn from the NHS, healthcare professionals, patients and carers, and the academic world.

The Appraisal Committee considers and interprets evidence on the clinical and cost effectiveness of health technologies (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, surgical procedures, diagnostic procedures and health promotion interventions), and formulates recommendations for NICE on their use.

NICE are looking to recruit individuals who have the experience and commitment to help the Institute take some of the most difficult decisions in public life, and in doing so to contribute to improving the quality and consistency of care provided by the NHS.

Individuals who are interested in joining the Appraisal Committee should log on to the Institute’s website for information and an application pack. Applications should be made by 31st March 2008.
