The Prostate Cancer Charity Bids A Fond Farewell To The Month Of The Mo....Until Next Year

MovemberAs wives and partners in every corner of the UK breathe a sigh of relief, men across the land are picking up their razors, with a tearful eye, as they bid farewell to their hairy companions. That's right, sadly, the month of Movember is officially over

This year has been the biggest and most successful Movember yet. More than 45,000 people registered as Mo Bros and Mo Sistas for the campaign. The Prostate Cancer Charity has received an incredible £4,732,047 so far, with donations still flooding in. This represents an 81% increase already on last year's fundraising efforts, showing the mo-mentum continues to grow!

MovemberThe month ended with a bang with the legendary Movember gala parties held in London, Edinburgh and Cornwall. Thousands of Citizens of Movember turned up to showcase their facial creations at the ultimate in fancy dress parties. Special prizes were awarded to the best (and most lame) Mo's and fun was had by all.

This year saw the first ever Movember 10km run, in Greenwich park on Saturday 13 November. More than 620 Mo Bros and Mo Sistas turned out on the cold, drizzly day to don their fancy dress outfits and run in an attempt to do their bit to change the face of men's health.

MovemberMos Emporium was back in full swing and a host of Mo-Mentors paid a visit to tidy up their upper lips. Olympic legend, Daley Thompson, popped in for a groom and even Rod from the West End hit, Avenue Q, opted for a trim. Rod also judged London's sexiest Mo at a special performance of the show and was joined on stage by BBC Radio One DJ, Scott Mills.

The OXO Tower showed their support for Movember again, by delighting diners with a special Movember chocolate pudding and holding a special lunch for all moustached gentlemen and their Mo Sistas.

Mo Bros and Mo Sistas up and down the country took part in fundraising events and activities and The Prostate Cancer Charity's Chief Executive, John Neate, paved the way in his role as Mo-Mentor and toured the UK's gala parties dressed as Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear.

John Neate said: "We are delighted to be the official charity partner of the Movember campaign in the UK and to have been part of this brilliant initiative from the beginning. There is nothing quite like Movember and there is definitely a buzz in the office like no other throughout the month. This year has been the most successful yet and we have raised a staggering £4.3 million so far, and the money continues to flood in. We are as ever, extremely grateful to the Movember Foundation team and all of the Mo Bros and Mo Sistas across the country who have made all this possible.

"Every penny that we receive helps the Charity to fight prostate cancer on every front - through research, support, information and campaigning. Together, we really are changing the face of men's health and if we continue in our efforts, as Buzz Lightyear would say, we can take Movember to infinity and beyond!"
