Prostate cancer awareness week.
Prostate cancer is the most
common cancer in men in the UK.
Every year nearly 35,000 men are
diagnosed with prostate cancer and
10,000 die from it – that’s around one
man every hour.
Early diagnosis could improve the
chance of successful treatment yet 70%
of adults in the UK don’t even know what
the prostate gland does.
Prostate Cancer Awareness
Week, 10-16 March 2008, aimed to
increase the profile of prostate cancer
and raise vital funds to improve research,
information and support services.
Say ‘pants’ to prostate cancer

As part of Prostate Cancer
Awareness Week, Purple Ronnie
teamed up with Marks & Spencer
and TV celebrity Andi Peters to say
‘pants’ to prostate cancer. 510
Marks & Spencer stores took part
participating in a variety of fundraising
activities and selling pants, pin badges,
socks, cufflinks and hankies, with 10%
of sales donated to the Charity – all with
the aim of raising over £200,000.
Take That ‘tie in’
Boy band Take That designed an exclusive range of limited edition ties for Marks & Spencer’s Autograph menswear range to support The Prostate Cancer Charity before Christmas. The 100% silk ties were priced £19.50, with 10% from each sale donated to the Charity. In total, over £6,000 was raised. You can buy yours in 76 stores nationwide or online www.marksandspencer.co.uk
Double act wins support
Celebrity Dancing on Ice
judge, Jason Gardiner,

Langford on TV’s Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire?
walking away with the
fantastic sum of £20,000.
Jason, whose grandfather
was diagnosed with prostate
cancer, donated his half of

Cancer Charity. The £10,000
