On Stage
Playwright, novelist and poet, Benjamin Zephaniah has joined forces with The Prostate Cancer Charity to write a fantastic new comedy, De Botty Business, in a bid to raise awareness of prostate cancer among the African Caribbean community.

African Caribbean men are three times more likely to develop prostate cancer and the play uses humour to look at the myths, fears and taboos surrounding the disease. The world premiere of the play was at The Hackney Empire on 5 March, which was followed by a week’s regional tour during Prostate Cancer Awareness Week.
Where are the Real Men?
The annual Real Man football
tournament took place on
Saturday 8 March at Goals
5-a-side centre in Beckenham.
This year’s event was a huge
success with 45 teams taking part,
raising £19,000 for The Prostate
Cancer Charity. Ex-Liverpool and
England International John Barnes
was on hand to present the trophy
to the winners Kier Basingstoke.
On your bike!
There’s still time to get involved in the Real Man Cycling Challenge 2008. It’s a corporate team event taking place this Autumn for up to 2,000 cyclists following a route around Canary Wharf. This year we hope to build some real excitement around the event and raise in excess of £1 million.
So if you, or someone you know, would like to take part, you’d better ‘get on your bike’! To find out more about our fundraising events, including the Real Man challenges visit www.prostate-cancer.org.uk
