Awareness Week 2004

Prostate Cancer Awareness Week - 22nd March to 28th March

DoctorThe 2004 Prostate Cancer Awareness Week got off to a flying start when Pop Idol Judge Dr. Fox and Aston Villa Chairman, Doug Ellis, launched 5,000 helium filled balloons in London’s Covent Garden. This message of hope was sent out to the nearly 32,000 men diagnosed each year in the UK.

During the week, we enjoyed extensive media coverage, appearing in over 40 newspapers, on six TV programmes and on 20 radio programmes. As a result, we received over 550 calls to our Helpline – an increase of 84%! And our website received a huge 17,000 hits – 7,000 more than usual!

The week was a huge success – and we’d like to say thanks to everyone who supported us. Because of you, we’ve been able to pass on an important message to men everywhere – knowledge saves lives.

Awareness Week is an annual event, so if you want to get involved in the next one all the information about Awareness Week can be found on this page.
