Research Strategy Review Committee

Terms of Reference

  • To establish the totality of research projects funded by The Prostate Cancer Charity to date - including subject areas and research spend.
  • To identify prostate cancer research being undertaken within the UK and worldwide and to identify gaps to which The Prostate Cancer Charity might usefully direct future research funding, either alone or in partnership with other organisations.
  • To identify any specific exclusions to research funding by The Prostate Cancer Charity.
  • To review options, and make recommendations, for the allocation of future research funding by The Prostate Cancer Charity, by reference to other models existing within the UK and, where relevant, world-wide.
  • To consider and make recommendations on the appropriate balance to be achieved between funding by The Prostate Cancer Charity of biomedical, translational, clinical and psychosocial research.
  • To consider and make recommendations on policies and practice to ensure effective research governance.
  • To consider and make recommendations on the establishment of appropriate peer review arrangements for the assessment of grant applications.
  • To consider and make recommendations on the establishment of a scientific advisory committee to act as a source of advice to The Prostate Cancer Charity on research funding strategy.
