The Prostate Cancer Charity supports Ethnic Minority Cancer Awareness Week (EMCAW)
The Prostate Cancer Charity has joined a collaboration of leading charities to help raise awareness of cancer amongst ethnic minority groups.
Ethnic Minority Cancer Awareness Week will run between 7th – 13th July. The focus for this year will be on London, as one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the world. Around 30% of the population belongs to an ethnic minority and over 250 languages are spoken.
A week of activities will begin with a parliamentary reception on Monday 7th July between 12.30 – 3.00 at Westminster. Speakers will share experiences, policy makers, service providers and community organisations will explore ways of improving cancer services and showcase services already provided.
A range of organisations, including health service providers and policy makers are being asked to improve services for ethnic minority communities by signing up to a statement. Individuals from ethnic minority communities are also being asked to take an active role in reducing their risk of developing cancer by agreeing to a statement too.
